Vodafone Main Office – Portugal

leave a comment »

In 1984, Vodafone was a tiny UK startup. Today, it is one of the world’s leading mobile telecommunications companies with activities around the globe. Vodafone’s well publicized Portuguese headquarters is located on Avenida da Boavista in Porto (Oporto), the namesake of Port wine and Portugal’s second global city after Lisbon.

The delightfully modern building was designed by architects José António Barbosa and Pedro Guimarães of Barbosa Guimarães Arquitectos.

Fantastic and experimental work by Lien Tong for the RISD Apparel department final critique. Great texture achieved by hand waxing heavy gauge cotton supported with steel wires, and machine knit mohair.

Initially shown back in April, Nike announces a wider launch for November from its Paris Bastille by 180g campaign, focused on three simple sneaker styles, including the Tennis Classic, Air Flytop, and Flash. All three receive unique 180g treatments, a process which allows some of the brand’s classic product to be custom dyed, achieving a tailor-made type of aesthetic amongst various premium textiles and custom detailing. A release event is slated for November 5th, 2009 at 180g in Paris.
